Helsinki, November 23, 2006 – The NOKIA Award for the Best IST Project Website has been awarded to ELEKTRA’s project website, www.elektra-project.org. Daniel Schwarz, project coordinator of ELEKTRA and Milva Becker-Fahr from BROADVIEW TV, responsible for the website creation, have accepted the prize from Dr. Erkki Ormala, NOKIA’s Vice President for Technology Policy, under the patronage of Finland’s Prime Minister, Matti Vanhanen.
The ceremony was part of the IST Event 2006, the biggest European conference in the field of Information Technology research, with more than 4,500 visitors. The European Commission, as initiator of the website contest, received a total of 254 applications, which were first rated by the wider Internet community. An expert jury picked three finalists out of the most popular sites – among them ELEKTRA’s winning contribution.
