The Center for Advanced Imaging (CAI) was founded as a joint neuroscientific research center of the University of Magdeburg, the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology, Magdeburg, and the University of Bremen. The basic scientific idea of the CAI project is to investigate control mechanisms of higher brain functions in following areas: perception, memory, action and decision. The focus of this collaboration is to combine research in several areas in the cognitive neurosciences, as well as the joint development of neuroimaging and visualisation tools.
Within ELEKTRA, the Center for Advanced Imaging is responsible for providing neurobiological expertise on media enhanced learning, providing pedagogical expertise on computer games as arranged learning environments and performing tests on brain activities during game play in ELEKTRA's virtual environments.
